USO shows brought a taste of home to weary troops overseas and entertainment to tired citizens on the homefront. When victory was declared in 1945 communities celebrated countrywide with the best of American music, dancing, and entertainment. On February 27th, hundreds of Maryland’s young professionals will gather to party like the "Greatest Generation" and celebrate their contribution to the allied victory in World War Two. The Victory Bash is the fourth annual February fundraiser hosted by the Young Defenders of the Maryland Historical Society.
As the official home for the Maryland War Records Commission during both world wars, and with a collection of thousands of documents and photos pertaining to service men and women, this year’s event will directly impact the ability of MdHS to preserve the memory of those who served.
